My
name is Michelle Walker and I am a Childbirth
Educator and Certified Birth Doula. I have a Diploma
in Childbirth Education from Childbirth International
and completed my doula training with Optimum Birth
and the Natural Birth, Education and Research
Centre in Lismore. I have studied Psychology,
hold a Bachelors Degree in Welfare Studies, and
am a volunteer Breastfeeding Counsellor with the
Australian Breastfeeding Association. I am currently
undertaking studies to become a Lactation Consultant
and hope to have completed this by mid 2011.
I
live with my husband on the Tweed Coast of NSW.
We first became parents in 1997; nothing could
have prepared us for the absolute joy and bliss
we felt as we cradled little Eliza in our arms.
That little bundle was ours - ours to love, cherish
and spoil. We felt like the luckiest people alive.
I
am so fortunate to have been blessed with four
more little bundles of love and mushy kisses -Tom,
Hannah, Will and Jedd. At times I still find it
hard to believe that I am able to share my life
with five little people. What a task! What a job!
What a lucky woman I am!
Becoming
a mother has been the most incredible experience
of my life. I have finally realised who I am,
why I am here and what I am about. I often have
people say to me "Wow, you have your hands
full!" The look on their faces when I reply
is priceless - "That's nothing ... you should
see my heart!"
I am passionate about pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding
and would be honoured to share in your very special
journey to parenthood. I hope that my support,
knowledge and experience will help you have a
truly blissful birthing experience. I facilitate
birth and parenting preparation workshops -
Beer
+ Bubs and Birth, Boobs and Bubby
and provide Doula support before, during
and after birth. As a Breastfeeding Counsellor
with the Australian Breastfeeding Association
I am also able to provide you with that very important
support often required when stumbling through
breastfeeding in the early days or if problems
arise at any time.
